A workshop on coastal area management sector in “Revisiting the Tamil Nadu State Action Plan on Climate Change Strategies” was conducted under the Chairmanship of Dr. H. Malleshappa, I.F.S., Director, Department of Environment on 17th August, 2016 at Koodal Hall, Anna University. The specific objective of the workshop was to provide understanding on impacts of climate change on the present status on coastal sector of Tamil Nadu. Dr. H. Malleshappa, I.F.S, Director, Department of Environment, welcomed the gathering and explained the importance of the coastal resources for the community. Dr. J.K.Edward Patterson, Director, Suganthi Devadason Marine Research Institute (SDMRI), Dr. Sannasiraj, Professor, IIT- Madras, Dr.R. Ramesh, Director, National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), and Dr. S.Srinivasulu, Director, Institute for Ocean Management, Anna University participated and explained the various aspects of coastal management to adapt to climate change. Dr. K.Palanivelu, Director, Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation Research, Anna University summarized the Workshop. Staff of the ENVIS centre and Climate Change Cell, Department of Environment had participated in the conference.
