World Environment Expo 2018 was held from 5th To 7th June 2018 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

World Environment Expo 2018 was held from 5 th To 7 th June 2018 at Pragati Maidan New Delhi. Dr.K.Muthukumar, Programme officer, ENVIS Centre, and Mr.S.Vigneswaran, JRF, Department of Environment participated in the World Environment Expo 2018 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and Displayed the achievements, activities, publications, uniqueness, awareness videos, audios etc… of the Department of Environment and ENVIS Centre, DoE. The Hon'ble Minister for Industries Thiru.Suresh Prabhu Inaugurated “World Environment Expo 2018”. In this session the Hon'ble Minister for Industries Thiru.Suresh Prabhu mentioned that India is a pioneer country in protecting the Environment and also actively involved in controlling the Plastic pollution. He also insisted that all the Government Line Departments should actively participate in these type of Expos and exhibit their initiatives. After the inauguration session the Expo events followed with the visits of Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Scientists from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), GoI. Dr.K.Muthukumar, Programme officer, ENVIS, DoE and Mr.S.Vigneswaran, JRF, DoE were present in the stall and briefed the World Environment Day 2018 celebration in the State under the theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution”, i.e Cleaning Activities in sea shores and river banks throughout Tamil Nadu in the presence of Hon'ble Minister for Environment, Director of Environment, MoEF&CC officials and other officials.
 
They also explained about the various environment protection activities made by the Department and also about the initiatives taken by the Department viz relaying of the roads by plastic, NGC activities, Eco-clubs students activities etc.. Distributed brochures' and pamphlets related to plastic pollution to general public and students and got appreciation from the Commissioner of National Capital Territory (NCT). Totally about 3000 brochures and pamphlets were distributed to the around 5000 school students and general public on the theme of World Environment Day ie “Beat Plastic pollution”.
