THE OZONE DAY CELEBRATION CONDUCTED BY ENVIS CENTRE, DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT, in COLLABORATION WITH IOM ENVIS CENTRE AND NCSCM WAS HELD ON 16.09.2017 AT NCSCM, ANNA UNIVERSITY

 

 Ozone Day cerebrated by State ENVIS Centre, Department of Environment in collaboration with Institute of Ocean management ENVIS Centre and NationalCentre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Anna University Chennai-25, which is held at Delta Auditorium, National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management, Anna University Campus, Chennai on 16th September 2017.  Dr.R.Ramesh, Director, NCSCM was gave the inaugural address and explained the Importance of Ozone layer. Dr.H.Malleshappa, I.F.S., Principal Chief Conservator of forest to explained importance of ozone layer and its impact on human health and Thiru. A.V.Venkatachalam, I.F.S., Director, Department of Environment is also presence of this programme. Dr. Mark A. Sutton, Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, NERC (Nature Environment Research council) UK gave talk on Importance of Nitrogen and assessment of Nitrogen on earth.  Dr. K. Palanivelu, Director, Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation Research, Anna University also explained about what Ozone is and causes for the depletion of Ozone layer, Thiru.L.Durai NGC State coordinator explained the importance of Ozone layer. Screening the Videos on Ozone layer importance and coastal biodiversity.  Displaying the posters, Newsletters, Awareness material by the TN Envis team and also distributed awareness materials for College students for wider publicity. Finally conducted the Quiz competition and distributed the prize to the winners. After the Quiz competition, Dr. S.Srinivasalu, Director, ENVIS Centre, Institute for ocean management gave the vote of Thanks. In this programme, More than 200 students and research scholars from Indian Ocean Management andNational Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management, Anna University Chennai-25 had participated.
