The Indian Meteorological Society, Chennai
in collaboration with Regional
Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai
and World Wide Fund for Nature-India, Tamil
Nadu state has conduced a one day seminar on
"Climate Change" on 30th October
2007 at Regional Meteorological Centre,
Chennai for
the benefit of the school students with the
objective of bringing awareness about the
Climate change, its possible impacts and
adaptation strategies. Students from
various schools made a power point
presentation on the impact of climate
change. The presidential address was
delivered by Dr.R.V.Sharma, Chairman, RMC
and the special invitee’s are Shri. Mangal
Raj Johnson, Chairman, WWF-India, Dr.
Prakash Rao, Senior Co-ordinator, WWF and
Shri.R.Kannan, Member secretary, Director of
School Education. Dr. C. Thomson Jacob, SPO,
ENVIS Centre of the Department of
Environment delivered a lecture on Global
Warming and its impact.
