APPEAL OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT ON NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY-2016

APPEAL OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT ON

NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY-2016

The National Pollution Control Day is celebrated every year on 2nd of December in India in order to honor and commemorate thousands of people who had lost their existence because of the Bhopal gas calamity. Bhopal Gas tragedy happened in the night of 2nd and 3rd December in the year 1984 because of unintentional discharge of poisonous chemical known as Methyl Iso Cyanate (MIC) and other chemicals released from the Union Carbide Chemical Plant positioned in the city. The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is considered as the world worst in industrial disaster.

One of the leading factors of observing the national pollution control day every year is to manage and control Industrial Disaster as well as preventing pollution of water, air and soil. Numbers of laws are declared by the Government all over world in order to seriously control and prevent pollution. National pollution control day is celebrated every year on 2nd of December to make aware the people and most importantly to aware the industries about paying greatest attention towards the need of Pollution Control Acts.

Pollution is one of the key environmental issues that not only India, but the entire world is battling with. As students, all of us had a chapter on Pollution in Science books, that explained its causes and effects, but in reality, we must concern in ensuring that pollution monster is reduced.

The main objective of this day is to spread awareness in among industries the causes water, air, soil that noise pollution and adversely affect the environment. Health hazards caused by pollution can prove fatal for the existence of human beings as well as flora, fauna and entire wildlife. To keep Mother Earth safe from Global warming and drastic climate change, it is very important to bring the pollution level down. Pollution has affected the planet not only physically, but also socially, economically and mentally. With the advent of technology, industrialisation, urbanisation, deforestation and vehicles transportation, at a fast pace, the situation is turning worst day-by-day and we are losing the balance in our ecosystem. In the present scenario, the countries need to understand that the world cannot become modern by depleting the natural resources and using them for their own selfish goals. Simple practices like segregation of waste at homes, ban of polythene bags, water conservation, walking, cycling, use of public transport, plantation and recycling can drastically help in reducing the rising pollution levels.

I appeal to all the public to create awareness about the National Pollution Control Day 2016 among the peer groups and support this noble cause.
