Tamil Nadu EIACP PC HUB, The Department of Environment and Climate Change and Salem Forest Division has jointly organized an Environmental Awareness Programme on “Summer Nature Camp for School students on 25.03.2024 at Yercaud, Salem District Forest Division, Salem. The students were taken to Botanical Survey of India, Yercaud, they were given sessions by Dr. R. Saravanan, Scientist and Dr. Kaliyamoorthi. Then they were given a brief field trip around the 100-year-old vegetations surrounding BSI, were they planted 1 year old saplings of Canarium strictum, Garcinia gummi-gutta and Pterospermum suberifolium. 100 students from 6 different schools and their teacher coordinators attended the camp. Further, they were taken to Eco Garden of Tamil Nadu Forest Department, where they were given 3 more session by Dr. R.Brawin Kumar, Biologist of Salem Forest Department and 2 other resource persons. They were provided with white T-shirts, caps, jute bags, notepad and pen as takeaway. They are all encouraged to embrace Life Mission goals for their life and to go sustainable in whatever way possible. Further, all the students were encouraged to share their learning with their friends and family to lighten up the chain reaction of spreading Life Mission principles to save our one and only mother earth. The students, teachers and officials took life mission pledge to save nature at all cost.
