Tamil Nadu EIACP PC HUB, Department of Environment and Climate Change has conducted a workshop on Adopt sustainable food system under Mission LIFE on 30.05.2025 at DRDA Conference Hall, Collectorate, Virudhunagar - 626002. This programme aimed to raise awareness among Anganwadi workers about sustainable food systems and the importance of adopting a sustainable lifestyle. As key facilitators in the early development of children, Anganwadi workers play a vital role in shaping young minds. Through this initiative, they were equipped with environmental knowledge and practical tools to educate children on sustainable living, the importance of healthy food choices, and the need to protect and preserve the environment, particularly in the context of the current climate crisis. The programme was inaugurated by the District Project Officer, Integrated Child Development Services, Virudhunagar. Dr. K. Muthukumar, Programme Officer, delivered an insightful session on the objectives of Mission LiFE – "Lifestyle for Environment." His talk emphasized integrating Mission LiFE themes into daily routines, offering practical strategies for adopting eco-friendly habits that contribute to broader environmental sustainability. Dr. Syed Sheriff from Government Hospital, Virudhunagar, talked about the topic of lifestyle diseases, highlighting the impact of unhealthy habits and the importance of preventive care. Dr. Kombiah from PMD College, Theni, addressed the importance of promoting sustainable and nutritious food choices for children. The session concluded with feedback from Anganwadi teachers, and EIACP newsletters along with Mission LiFE handouts were distributed to all participants.
